I must admit that I’m pretty excited, so here’s to my first dev-blog post! But who am I? I am a typical computer geek with a passion for video games. I live in the Southeastern United States, and grew up enjoying the NES, Gameboy, and any other systems I could lay my hands on. I’ve always had an interest in creating video games, and now that I’m finally giving that a go, I hope that my posts are interesting and informational. I am using the Godot Engine, which is free and open source, so if you are interested in giving it a go, what are you waiting for? Check it out here: https://godotengine.org/. But I can’t use the game engine for everything, so here is a list of the other software I am using for game-dev:
- Pixel Art: Aseprite – https://www.aseprite.org/
- Sounds: BFXR – https://www.bfxr.net/
- Music and Sound: FL Studio – https://www.image-line.com/
- Screen Recording: OBS Studio – https://obsproject.com/
- Video Editing: OpenShot – https://www.openshot.org/
With that in mind, I’m sure that in future posts I will be going into these a bit more. Also be aware that I prefer working on more than one project at a time; my brain seems to prefer it that way, but for your sanity (as well as for my own), I will be doing my best to tag the posts according to the project that they reference, if any at all.
